India Electronic Visa Changes: What You Need to Know

India has recently implemented several updates to its electronic visa (e-Visa) system to enhance the travel experience for international visitors. Here's an overview of the key changes:

    Extended Validity Periods

The validity of the e-Tourist Visa has been extended to 1 year for most nationalities, allowing for multiple entries. This change provides greater flexibility for travelers planning multiple visits to India within a year.

    Simplified Application Process

The online application portal has been redesigned to offer a more intuitive interface, reducing errors and processing times. Applicants can now complete the process more efficiently, enhancing the overall user experience.

    Expanded Eligibility

The e-Visa facility has been extended to nationals of additional countries, increasing the number of travelers eligible to apply for an Indian visa online. This expansion aims to promote tourism and business exchanges.

    Updated Visa Categories

India now offers various e-Visa categories, including:

    • Tourist e-Visa: For short-term travel for tourism purposes.
    • Business e-Visa: For individuals visiting India for business meetings, conferences, or trade events.
    • Medical e-Visa: For travelers seeking medical treatment in India.
    • Conference e-Visa: For attending conferences or seminars in India.

Updated Visa Validity and Stay Duration

The validity and stay duration for e-Tourist Visas have been updated as follows:

    • Short-term: 30 days validity with a 30-day maximum stay.
    • Long-term: 1 year validity with a 90-day maximum stay per entry.
    • Extended: 5 years validity with a 90-day maximum stay per entry.

Please note that e-Tourist Visas for visits longer than 30 days are non-extendable and non-convertible.
